Someone on FB is talking about Gilmore Girls and how shitty the cast was to extras.....
Dirt, bitches, real dirt! Read it for yourselves! I have receipts!

So nothing new?? GG and Charmed were horrible but apparently Castle was one of the best.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | December 4, 2016 2:17 PM |
I fucking LOATHE that show. Talk about unrealistic. Rory has 2 people at the same time wanting to pay for her tuition. I hate those fantasy scripts and problems a la twillight: wich hunk to choose for boring and homely Bella.
And the mother in gilmore girls is a total frau, and all of their played out coffee jokes. I just hate that show and I am female.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 4, 2016 2:56 PM |
The thread is interesting though I'm not buying that Castle was a "no asshole" set.

Neither am i R3.

Great info in those Facebook comments, even Sean Gunn's dad comments....nice find OP.

I would never have watched a second episode if not for Carole.

Very interesting...explains why Alexis Bledel hasn't had very much work since the show wrapped.

[Quote] Very interesting...explains why Alexis Bledel hasn't had very much work since the show wrapped.
But why is Lauren Graham?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 4, 2016 3:55 PM |
You know something is wrong with a woman, if she goes out with an abusive alcoholic. Even if she is a fantastic actress.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 4, 2016 4:15 PM |
GG was a famously unhappy set. None of this is news.
ASP is a bitch and set the tone. The storytelling style of the show tells you that the showrunner was driven by whims and petty to boot.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 4, 2016 4:17 PM |
There were tons and tons of rumors about the GG set when it was on the air -- extras were writing blog posts to air their grievances. I seem to recall TWoP banned linking to those blogs but by the final season when it was clear that Graham had gone full diva there was no point, everyone knew the set was toxic.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 4, 2016 4:21 PM |
Does anyone know if Melissa McCarthy was an asshole??
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 4, 2016 4:22 PM |
There are some gems over there!
[quote]By the way, it was actually Lauren Graham I saw in action and I think she probably gives Alexis Bledel a run for her money: she eviscerated an AD because the humidity was causing her hair to droop ever so slightly.
This one is even better:
[quote]What about the comment that Lauren Graham was overheard making about the extras as new craft service was being placed on the table. -"Look at them scurry like cockroaches".
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 4, 2016 4:28 PM |
R9 which woman went out with the alcoholic? And was he an actor too?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 4, 2016 4:43 PM |
Weren't there rumours about Milo V being abusive to Alexis Bledel when they were dating???
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 4, 2016 5:10 PM |
Here's your dish, bitches.
[quote] But the moment I had cleared the camera Lauren yells “CUT”, turns right to me and says “You extras need to do your fucking crosses faster when it’s my close up!” and storms away. I was not only humiliated from being yelled at, but worried that I was gonna get kicked off the set (which happens quite a bit if you manage to bug the star). So there I am, red faced and embarrassed, when the AD walks over to me and says “Don’t worry about it. You did nothing wrong. She does that all the time. Go back to your mark and ignore her.”
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 4, 2016 5:17 PM |
R12 the cast of "Mike and Molly" wanted it to end, she was such a bitch. Unlike most series, there was no cast and crew party.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 4, 2016 5:24 PM |
But..but..I am so endearingly kooky and funny! And I make frequent references to pop culture! Surely that entitles me to be a shrewish termagant!

That sucks R17.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 4, 2016 5:44 PM |
Damn, I've worked with a lot of cunts.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 4, 2016 5:48 PM |
Well they are at work, why should they talk to extras? Extras are always treated like shit, they should ask for a pay raise.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 4, 2016 5:52 PM |
I'm getting the feeling it's not just the extras though.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 4, 2016 6:18 PM |
How could Castle have a "no assholes" policy on the set when the two leads HATED each other?
That kind of bad blood spills over the whole set.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 4, 2016 6:20 PM |
Does anyone know if Graham pulled that shit on Parenthood?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 4, 2016 6:40 PM |
I have a (male!) family member who idolizes LG and considers GG magic. This makes me feel better about hating her and that dumb ass show - at least past Season 3.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 4, 2016 6:50 PM |
[quote]Does anyone know if Graham pulled that shit on Parenthood?
Graham didn't have the same standing on that show. She wasn't the star, much less named in the title.
It would have been easy to get rid of her on Parenthood.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 4, 2016 6:52 PM |
So true, r26.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 4, 2016 6:53 PM |
I'll cut Lauren some slack. The scripts for GG were something like 20 pages longer than typical hour-longs. They worked longer hours especially in that first season. Lauren, being the main character, got the brunt of the extra work. Not only would I be touchy having to consistently work longer hours but I'd be pissed if I were doing my job right and the people around me were slacking causing me to redo my part of the job over and over.
And it's not like she's someone like Katherine Heigl or Faye Dunaway who have stories leak of their bad behavior on every single job they have.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 4, 2016 7:00 PM |
If the set was bad, I would look to Amy Sherman Palladino. She seems to have such an edge in interviews.
And the woman needs a fucking stylist!
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 4, 2016 7:12 PM |
Lauren sounds sweet!
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 4, 2016 7:32 PM |
I hate to say it, but I hear from someone who would know that Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are also very difficult to be around/work with and generally unpleasant. I was floored by this.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 4, 2016 7:43 PM |
Why would you be floored when you know that one of them wrote a movie called "Mean Girls" and admitted to being one in high school and fucked over Rachel Dratch royally?

Australian actor Tanc Sade who had a recurring role on Gilmore Girls and made a cameo in the reboot responds to the FB thread with the following comments
I worked on the original Gilmore Girls for two seasons as an actor (and am also in the revival). It was my first job straight off the boat after landing in America. I ended up making quite a few friends out of the extras department, and tried lightening the mood with silly games late at night when we were all getting tired. But if I pissed you off in anyway I truly apologize. I also apologize on behalf of your experience in general. I feel as a cast member I am in part responsible for the well being of my fellow team members.
When I first got a job as a series regular many years later (Matador) I felt I had more power to dictate the general atmosphere of the team. I organised a night out for the regular extras (and doubles) to bond with, and regular group date nights when guest stars were cast so they could feel at home before coming to work (that dreaded first day as a guesty is the worst).
It was a gruelling schedule as you know; many, many 15-17 hour days as they strived to reach for their vision. Regardless, the experience you had (and what clearly many others had was inexcusable and again I'm sorry.
All the best.
Tanc.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 4, 2016 7:55 PM |
Interesting that Tanc doesn't deny that there was a bad vibe on the set.

Any gossip on how Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel got along?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | December 4, 2016 9:54 PM |
Peter Krause is the alcoholic. Any woman who stays with him has definitely got some faulty emotional wiring.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 4, 2016 10:26 PM |
This is really disappointing, since I've enjoyed the show, but not really surprising. A friend of mine met Lauren Graham when she was doing her Broadway gig, and he said she was a total cunt.

He is also HUGELY hung so he could drunkenly knock me around the bedroom all he wanted. I love a big YKW!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 4, 2016 10:37 PM |
Years ago, there was an IMDB thread were extras on Evan Almighty said that Graham was a total cunt to extras and crew members.
I also recall that Peter Krause was an asshole on the Six Feet Under set. So he and Graham were perfect for each other.

[quote] I hear from someone who would know that Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are also very difficult to be around/work with and generally unpleasant.
I don't know how much to pay attention to this. Amy and Tina were in a cutthroat writing room with the SNL guys, and they had to be thick skinned and speak up for shit to get shit done.
There's a story about Jimmy Fallon (or one of the other guys), Tina and Amy being in a writing session early on, and Jimmy was saying something about a sketch. Had to go find it to make sure I got it right - here it is - Tina Fey said this in her book.
“Amy Poehler was new to SNL and we were all crowded into the seventeenth-floor writers' room, waiting for the Wednesday night read-through to start....
Amy was in the middle of some such nonsense with Seth Meyers across the table, and she did something vulgar as a joke. I can't remember what it was exactly, except it was dirty and loud and "unladylike", Jimmy Fallon turned to her and in a faux-squeamish voice said, "Stop that! It's not cute! I don't like it."
Amy dropped what she was doing, went black in the eyes for a second, and wheeled around on him. "I don't fucking care if you like it." Jimmy was visibly startled. Amy went right back to enjoying her ridiculous bit.
With that exchange, a cosmic shift took place. Amy made it clear that she wasn't there to be cute. She wasn't there to play wives and girlfriends in the boys' scenes. She was there to do what she wanted to do and she did not fucking care if you like it.”
by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 4, 2016 11:13 PM |
Tina also wrote an episode of 30 Rock where one of the writers calls her a cunt, and another episode (or maybe the same one) where her character lets everyone walk all over her because she doesn't want to be perceived negatively and everything turns to shit. Her character - inspired by a marathon of Designing Women - has a Julia Sugarbaker tirade at the end where she tells them she is no longer going to put up with their laziness.

R40 what I heard goes beyond that stuff. Just being nasty to everyone, underlings, ect and making everyone around them miserable.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 4, 2016 11:57 PM |
Well give us some more deets ....sounds interesting, r42!
by Anonymous | reply 43 | December 5, 2016 12:18 AM |
R40: AP went black in the eyes after being called unladylike while she enjoys her bit?
Sounds like someone had a mother.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | December 5, 2016 3:41 AM |
There was another bit of dish on LG back when the show was on the air, something from a person who had worked with her at Southern Methodist University and said she was professional and very driven, but nice. When they later happened to work together she went out of her way to pretend like she didn't know this person she'd worked with several times before.
Take this with a grain of salt, because I cannot find a link to this anywhere. All I remember is that it was brought up in discussion of a short film she did called "Gnome" back in 2005.

It always amazes me how a random B list show, with a Z list cast can develop such an insufferable reputable. Meanwhile much loves shows, with critical acclaim vested such great environments for interns, crew to work .

r25, Did your family member transition?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | December 5, 2016 9:05 AM |
I actually liked GG back then. Never thought AB could be such a pain to work with. No wonder her career ended after GG. Based on interviews and televised group gatherings ASP seems difficult and very aware of her abilities to write.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | December 5, 2016 9:29 AM |
Even when she was being "on" with Ellen on her show a couple of times her bitchiness slipped out.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | December 5, 2016 9:45 PM |
The show's team must have just been bitches to the "little people" below them, not to each other.
Otherwise, I can't imagine that they would get almost everyone -- including people who now have bigger careers and don't need GG -- to come back for the Netflix show.
